Charlotte Colocation

DC74 is headquartered in Charlotte, NC, where we operate three data centers within walking distance of each other. Strategically located near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, our clients enjoy the ability to arrive at our data centers within 5 minutes of leaving the airport property.

Our “colocation campus” provides us with benefits beyond single building facilities. Each facility operates independently with individual transformer power feeds and generators. Each facility is connected by a private underground fiber mesh network, which benefits operations in a variety of ways. Current total space measures approximately 68,000 sq ft with 4MW of power.

The Charlotte climate is appealing to data center providers due to its mild cool winters and lack of extreme weather. Charlotte enjoys being far enough inland to avoid suffering severe damage from hurricanes, and the mountains to the west are a natural defense against tornadoes and other severe weather.

Other elements have also aided in the region become a desirable location for data center growth. A high talent pool combined with low utility costs and an educated work force have lured enterprises such as Apple, Facebook, and Google to construct data centers in the area.

DC74 maintains a Service Level Agreement with a national provider of commercial portable power in the event of an onsite generator issue. This SLA provides an additional level of redundancy to our operations. The acquisition of an additional mobile commercial generator that will permanently reside on campus in the event of any generator issue at our Charlotte data centers is currently in the works.
